§ 18-61. Authority to appoint.

The chief of police and fire chief are hereby authorized and directed to appoint special patrol officers and special firefighters to be respectively known as auxiliary police officers and auxiliary firefighters, in such numbers as he may deem necessary to perform police duties and fire department duties in time of extraordinary emergencies under the direction of and in compliance with such rules and regulations as the chief of police and fire chief shall promulgate.
