§ 14-11. Open storage of cinders, ashes and wastes.

  • (a)

    The use of land for the open storage of cinders, slag, ashes and manufacturing waste byproducts shall be governed by and subject to the following conditions:

    (1)

    Such storage adjoining or abutting residential or commercial use districts shall be separated from such districts by the erection of a six-foot solid barrier fence. "Adjoining" or "abutting" shall be construed to include land separated only by a street or alley.

    (2)

    Such storage shall not intrude closer than 20 feet to the interior lot lines of the property.

    (3)

    Such storage shall not exceed a height of ten feet above the grade of the property at the front lot line.

    (4)

    A sprinkler system shall be maintained in an operative condition that shall be sufficient to prevent and eliminate the blowing or scattering of such storage and dust from such storage. "Blowing" or "scattering" shall mean such stored material escaping from the areas defined above except when being transported by a usual and normal means of conveyance.

    (b)

    Nothing in this section shall be construed to grant or allow the open storage of cinders, slag, ashes, or manufacturing waste byproducts where such storage is prohibited by any other city ordinance.
